“ShoesDay” Memory

Happy “ShoesDay!”

I recently had someone ask me what was the best customer service experience I’ve ever had. They said it could be an experience from the grocery store, at a restaurant, anywhere! And what experience did I choose? An experience at the shoe store! Did you really think I was going to say anywhere else?

Last fall, I tried on a pair of Christian Louboutin’s. I’d had my eye on the Pigalle, (the classic pointed toe heel) or the Bianna (which is the round toe Pump).

The store I was at didn’t have either of those selections, but the sales rep showed me the Very Prive and I fell in love!! It’s a high heel, peep toe pump, and the red from the sole splashes through on the toe box. Very classy shoe. Of course I was in love with a totally different shoe about a week later when his new collection was revealed, but that’s another story for another time…

Question:

Most people that have or want Louboutin’s say that his shoes aren’t comfortable? What are your thoughts? Would you buy a shoe for cuteness or comfort?

Why the Love for Food?

Everyone has a reason behind why they enjoy food, why they like to cook, stories in the kitchen and dinner table, etc. Since part of this blog is dedicated to food, I would be remise if I didn’t mention one of my favorite cooks on Youtube-Laura Vitale. She has an online cooking show titled Laura in the Kitchen, and this Saturday, September 27th her new television show Simply Laura airs on the Cooking Channel.

Since I began watching Laura in the Kitchen almost two years ago, I’ve gotten a different take on food and cooking. Nowadays, being in the kitchen and making meals for others doesn’t seem like much of a challenge. Her recipes are easy to follow and pleasing to the palette!

Here’s a look at one of her cooking videos from Youtube (a recipe that I’m planning to make since apples are in THE food to cook with since it’s Fall)  and be sure to check out Simply Laura this Saturday!

Happy Cooking!

“Food Rut” Be Gone!

Having breakfast on a Sunday is the best!!

In my family, Sunday brunch recipes vary. We do eat out, occassionally, but for the most part we choose to cook at home.

For awhile, we were in sort of a “food rut.” Have you ever been there before? It’s like, you enjoy eating Sunday brunch, but you find yourself cooking the same thing over and over and over again? Food and eating should be satisfying, not just something we do because it’s necessary to survive.

Last year for Black Friday I wanted a images-3waffle iron (I know I’m late ya’ll, don’t judge me). Although I’ve never been much of a waffle eater, I felt it would add variety to our breakfast.  And it certainly has! My dad and I even try to make scrambled eggs more often now (he has perfected his scrambled egg).

What’s your favorite meal for Sunday brunch? Do you like to eat out/cook at home? Share them with me, and I can even try to cook them!

I can’t wait to share more of my favorites!

The Mother of All Boots? eh… Maybe

Technically, it’s Tuesday, but I recognize it as “ShoesDay!”

Ok, sometimes the world of shoe fashion moves too fast even for me! It appears that the trend this fall is the peep-toe over the knee boot.

Honestly, my dear shoe lovers, I’m not sure how I feel just yet about this style. It took me awhile to like the peep-toe look, then it took awhile to like the ankle boot/bootie look, I died for a pair of over the knee boots last fall (Yes, I did find a steal and bought a nice black pair!), but now this style is a combination of everything! I’ll say this– I think the style has potential, and if the boots perfectly fit around the ankle and hugs the leg, it’ll truly be a shoe on fiiiire!!

Do you like these boots? Feel free to share your thoughts!

The Beginning of Brunch and Pumps

Sooner or later this blog was going to happen. During the summer of 2014 (and really, much longer than that when I think about it) I received numerous comments of encouragement and inspiration from friends, family, shoe lovers, and foodies regarding starting a new blog dedicated to shoes and food (two things I love).

This blog will explore my affinity for shoes (a passion I’ve had since I was 12 years old), and my reason behind being a “foodie.” Yes, I enjoy a good meal, and I like to cook (breakfast in particular) and Italian food is my favorite.

On this blog, I’ll take you along as I cook breakfast, brunch (a few dinner meals will be thrown in too) and head to the mall/stores to review some of my favorite shoes and the shoe styles of the season.

Welcome to Brunch & Pumps!

That Mean, Mean, Mean Green

It’s only appropriate to begin the shoe section of this blog by showing you a picture of  the shoes I wore to my 8th grade graduation which was (blank) years ago lol. These shoes started it all!!

My mean green shoes were designed by Bandolino, and my mom picked them up photo 2literally hours before my graduation (it’s kinda funny that the shoes were the last thing to be bought. Now, they are often the first thing I buy when putting together an outfit). The material is leather and as you can see, there’s barely a heel there, but Ohhh how I have advanced!!! 🙂

These shoes perfectly matched my dress and purse that I wore during the ceremony, and green is my mom’s favorite color.

Yes, the mean green has led to a long, everlasting fling with shoes!!

(I’ll try to remember to do a future post about the shoes I wore to my high school and college graduation). 🙂 What pair of shoes do you have that you still love/bring back great memories? Let me know!
