ShoeLover “ShoesDay” Dilemma

I can’t believe it.
I can’t believe it.
I can NOT believe it.

According to Designer Shoe Warehouse (DSW) Saturday October 25th was dswNational Shoe Lover’s Day and guess who did NOT buy any shoes? Yup, this girl right here. I’m still in shock. Well… sorta.

On Saturday, I ran a few errands with my family and we ended up at a store that’s literally two stores away from a DSW that I frequent. The devil on my shoulder said to me: “Go inside, and buy some shoes! You deserve it! Or, at least go inside and just look at some shoes.”

Now, let’s stop right there.

First of all, let it be known from this moment on that it’s hard for any shoe lover to just LOOK at a pair of shoes and not buy.

So, that’s when the angel on my shoulder said: “No shoes today? It’s OK, no worries.” How true that turned out to be!

I ended up receiving TWO $10.00 off coupons from DSW, one for now (meaning end of October-mid November) and one for later (meaning late November-Early December).
The lesson?
Good Shoes come to those who wait. #Winning

Football, Food, and Father-Daughter Memories

The marriage of food and football this morning was a perfect idea, and all the credit goes to my dad.

Typically on a Sunday I like to sleep in, but I told my dad I would wake up early and begin cooking with him around 8 a.m. This would give us enough time to make a nice breakfast/brunch just in time for the special football game today in London. food We decided to keep the menu simple: Grits, bacon, biscuits, scrambled eggs, coffee, and bloody Mary’s.

It was not only a great meal, but this morning served as a reminder of what cooking is all about: making memories in the kitchen. My dad has always been the cook in the house, and it’s only been in recent years that I’ve decided to join him in the kitchen and cook. That was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Whenever my dad and I cook together we end up talking about funny moments from the week, and discussing new ideas. It’s also a time when we learn new cooking tricks/tips (such as how to make PERFECT, and yes I mean, PERFECT scrambled eggs- something my dad admits he’s only mastered as of late).

What’s most fun for you while cooking?! Let me know below or at brunchandpumps@gmail.com

Golf and Heels???

Today’s “ShoesDay” topic is another Shoes as Art post.

This piece of artwork has actually been in my room for awhile, and was the first “shoe picture” I ever received.

The picture combines shoes (which of course you all know I love) but if you look closely, shoesandgolf you’ll see a man with a gold club in his hand preparing to tee off. The golfer in the picture serves a purpose too, because at the time I was really into the game of golf (yes, I had a huge crush on Tiger Woods, whereas now the crush has dwindled and I only get around to watching/playing golf occasionally).

I think it’s interesting though that a simple piece of artwork can hold meaning and memories. I’m glad I still have this piece in my Shoes as Art collection.

Shoes assist with Success

For “ShoesDay”, I’m discussing the question:

 What Makes a Successful Woman?

Of course, many characteristics make a woman successful; confidence, skill, drive and passion to name a few. But, since part of this blog is dedicated to shoes, I’d have to argue that the right pair of shoes can contribute to the successful, confident feeling of a woman. Actually, this thought is brought out further in my latest shoe gift. Take a look …

My Betty Boop Shoes Figurine that was recently gifted to me by my aunt since she knows I love shoes.

My Betty Boop Shoes Figurine with the inscription: “Behind every successful woman is a fabulous pair of shoes.”

Yes, the right pair of heels, whether high, mid, or “kitten”heels,” (It really depends on the comfort and style of the woman) can make her walk with a little more “pep in her step.”

Do you have a shoe/shoes that remind you that you’re a success in your own right?! If so, take a picture a leave it below in the comments or email it to brunchandpumps@gmail.com and I may feature it in a future blog post! (with your permission, of course).

In the mean time, I’m gonna go pick out a pair of mine to share with you on a future post!

“ShoesDay”- Shoes as Art

Shoes can not only be worn, but they also serve as art/artwork. For today’s  Tuesday “ShoesDay” segment, I’d like to introduce to you the new artwork that I get to wake up to each day:

What shoe loves wouldn't love waking up to this?! :)

Yep that’s right, a Christian Louboutin shoe hangs on my wall. Many thanks to my mom for seeing this artwork and suggesting I buy it. Maybe now that I have this my mom will be more open to me getting the ACTUAL shoe. Hmmm…. 🙂

In/Not In France? Make French Toast (rollups)

Pinterest is a great site to gather ideas-especially for food.

One of the breakfast ideas I tried and enjoyed were the French Toast Rollups. Dee.lish.cious. It’s a cute spin

Add some warm syrup to the roll ups and you are good to go!

on a classic favorite. In my opinion, it’s a way to indulge, but not feel bad about your decision TO indulge, ya know? Also, for those with young ones at home, or those that may not get in the kitchen often, this is a great dish to make because of its simplicity and presentation.

Give French Toast Roll-ups a try for your next breakfast, brunch, or snack!

Here's the process for making these delicious roll ups.
