“Shoesday” Edition: Wear Shoes and Eat Cake Too!

IMG_2345This entire cake is edible, but because of the creativity and artistry, who would WANT to eat it???!!!

I found this photo about a year ago (again on Pinterest) and excuse me for saying that I instantly wanted to have a party so as to have an excuse to get this cake made!

Shoelovers, what do you think? Would you want to eat this cake?

PS- If you know anyone that makes cakes like this, send them my way!!

My, how FLATtering you are!!

I watch as their eyes gaze down to the ground. I can tell that they are staring at my shoes. I already know the question they are going to ask: “Leah, are you wearing FLATS today?”

I fix my mouth to smile sweetly, and prepare to give them a confusing answer: “Yes, maybe,” I say. Their perplexed face follows my response.

A woman who loves heels can still be stylish in a pair of flats, right?

Right.

Flats are part of my shoe collection. In comparison to heels, my flats lose by a longshot. But, there are those times when flats are necessary.

1)Changing into cuter shoes – cute flats are the prelude to the cute heels that you are about to wear. Or, in my writing vernacular, flats foreshadow heels. Personally, certain heels I have do not touch the ground (concrete/gravel) to avoid getting scuffed or more importantly to avoid me falling and breaking my neck. Therefore, I wear my flats and then change when I reach my destination.

2) Still looking stylish while resting your feet – Let’s face it ladies, no matter how much we try to walk through the pain- HEELS HURT!!! and sometimes, it’s beneficial to give your feet a rest and change into a pair of flats. No shame, no need to be embarrassed. Better to wear flats than to limp around in a pair of heels that are obviously murdering your feet after a long day of wear. coach.jpg

Are flats part of your shoe collection? And, I think I’m going to consider purchasing a pair of Coach flats. Any suggestions on the style or color?

April Showers Brings…

For years I’ve seen girls wear the cutest styles of rainboots: Burberry,

florals, Coach, polka dots you name it! As much as I liked them I didn’t feel I needed to buy a pair.

These are so cute I wouldn't even want to wear them!

But, I caved in. (it should be mentioned that I went to DSW for rainboots ONLY because I had store credit that I wanted to use).

I didn’t buy the most pimped out pair, but instead I bought an everyday/ average navy blue pair with a pop of pink on the trim of the boots.

Yes, they have come in handy,

Yes, I plan to buy another pair (patterned this time)

and Yes, wearing these rain boots makes me want to go fishing-seriously. Boots

So, to the month of April I say “Bring on the showers, because I will be fashionably ready!”

I Unexpectedly Saw Red…

It appears on the bottom of only a select pair of shoes against a variety of colors and materials and adds to the complete design of the product, making it a work of art on the foot of any Shoelover. It’s the coveted red sole.

“Rolando” heels by Christian Louboutin

Honestly, my dear shoe lovers, I’m still in shock myself. My disbelief is largely the reason why I’m able to write this post as opposed to jumping for joy and not being able to contain my excitement! But you know what, my happy-calmness is actually EXACTLY how I want to feel.

For me, my Louboutin heels are more than just the shoe, they are what the shoe represents.

For some people, purchasing their first pair of Louboutin’s is about status and all that “supposedly” comes with being a Louboutin owner. True, it is nice to say I own a pair of what MANY people believe to be ridiculously overpriced and uncomfortable designer shoes. But, considering that I wasn’t expecting to be able to purchase them so soon (from a financial standpoint) the shoe serves as a reminder to me that 1) anything is possible and 2) there’s nothing wrong with treating yourself periodically.

Yes, I own a pair of Louboutins.

Yes, I bought them for a RIDICULOUSLY  AMAZING  price.

And Yes, I’m still a shoe lover whether they are designer shoes or not.

Shooties and Foodies

I’m happy to say that two weeks in a row this blog has taken on its official meaning- that of me having brunch and wearing pumps.

Real Life Scenario #1- It’s rare that my mom and I go out to eat (it’s more of a pastime that my dad and I share), but when it does happen it’s always a good time. Last Sunday, mom and I ended up at brunch with other friends and had a nice booth to ourselves. My mom, the self-proclaimed “Fashionista” was flawless from “H2T” (head to toe), but for the sake of this blog I’ll only focus on the shoes.

Ironically, both of us wore pumps that are  “shooties”

Shooties (Noun)

1. An fashion item commonly worn on the foot that has combined characteristics of a shoe and an ankle boot.

Sidenote- (I’m not a fan of the word “shooties” but this is how they are recognized in the world of fashion)

Here’s a pic of the ones my mom and I wore:

Check back soon for real life scenario #2! And many thanks to my mom for helping me define Brunch and Pumps 🙂

ShoeLover “ShoesDay” Dilemma

I can’t believe it.
I can’t believe it.
I can NOT believe it.

According to Designer Shoe Warehouse (DSW) Saturday October 25th was dswNational Shoe Lover’s Day and guess who did NOT buy any shoes? Yup, this girl right here. I’m still in shock. Well… sorta.

On Saturday, I ran a few errands with my family and we ended up at a store that’s literally two stores away from a DSW that I frequent. The devil on my shoulder said to me: “Go inside, and buy some shoes! You deserve it! Or, at least go inside and just look at some shoes.”

Now, let’s stop right there.

First of all, let it be known from this moment on that it’s hard for any shoe lover to just LOOK at a pair of shoes and not buy.

So, that’s when the angel on my shoulder said: “No shoes today? It’s OK, no worries.” How true that turned out to be!

I ended up receiving TWO $10.00 off coupons from DSW, one for now (meaning end of October-mid November) and one for later (meaning late November-Early December).
The lesson?
Good Shoes come to those who wait. #Winning

Golf and Heels???

Today’s “ShoesDay” topic is another Shoes as Art post.

This piece of artwork has actually been in my room for awhile, and was the first “shoe picture” I ever received.

The picture combines shoes (which of course you all know I love) but if you look closely, shoesandgolf you’ll see a man with a gold club in his hand preparing to tee off. The golfer in the picture serves a purpose too, because at the time I was really into the game of golf (yes, I had a huge crush on Tiger Woods, whereas now the crush has dwindled and I only get around to watching/playing golf occasionally).

I think it’s interesting though that a simple piece of artwork can hold meaning and memories. I’m glad I still have this piece in my Shoes as Art collection.
